Loving Our Neighbors, Near and Far.

Anchor House

St. John’s provides and maintains low-cost housing to long-term medical patients from outside the Houston area. The name “Anchor House” was chosen because St. John’s wanted the apartment to be the patient’s home-away-from-home.

BIM is a coalition of 12 congregations who provide physical, spiritual, and emotional assistance to persons in need in southwest Houston. St. John’s members provide food, clothing, and job counseling to people in need. Fresh vegetables from the garden are donated to the BIM food pantry to feed the hundreds of people who show up each week for assistance.

Community Garden

We have completed 8 garden beds, and our gardeners are planting spring vegetables. Our group now includes ~15 gardeners. We hope to continue to expand our garden in the near future by adding more garden beds, inviting PCHAS residents to participate and eventually adding a prayer area near the garden. Come and see our garden grow!

Please call the church office, 713-723-6262, if interested in joining the community garden.

Houston International Seafarer’s Center

A “home away from home” for sea-weary sailors, St. John’s provides funds, supplies, and other resources to the Center for recreational and religious activities.

Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services

Providing Christ-centered services to children in need and their families, through group homes, foster homes, adoption, the Child and Family Program, and the Advanced Education and Aftercare Program. St. John’s provides office space to PCHAS and supports various program initiatives.

Uganda Orphanage

St. John’s and its members support Ugandan children living at the Lulwanda Children’s Home, an orphanage run by the Grace International Children’s Foundation. Donations help pay for food, clothing, books, and tuition. Volunteers also travel to Uganda to help develop school curriculum, train teachers, and offer other support to the children and staff at the Lulwanda home.
